Jet Cleaning Prophylactic Procedure
Jet Cleaning is a high precision air-polishing prophylactic procedure primarily used to remove plaque, stains, and biofilm from tooth surfaces and periodontal pockets. It utilizes a specialized device that sprays high-pressure water and air mixed with fine powder.
At the Bluff Clinic, we use the KaVo PROPHYflex 3.
While sodium bicarbonate powder is commonly used, we opt for a gentler sodium carbonate powder, which is kinder to the teeth.
Benefits of Jet Cleaning
- Comfortable Cleaning: The high-pressure jet removes plaque, stains and biofilm without the need to touch the teeth directly with tools, ensuring the surface remains free of scratches.
- Thorough Cleaning of Hard-to-Reach Areas: The method can easily clean areas such as tooth crevices, periodontal pockets, and around orthodontic appliances where brushes or other tools struggle to reach.
- Effective Stain Removal: Stains caused by coffee, tea, and tobacco can be effectively removed, improving the appearance of your teeth and restoring their natural whiteness.
Please note that Jet Cleaning focuses on surface cleaning and is not a replacement for scaling to remove tartar or dental caries treatment.
We recommend starting with standard cleaning to remove tartar before undergoing Jet Cleaning for optimal results. The effects are remarkable.
