Sam Gilbert qualified in Melbourne, Australia in 2004 and has been treating the expatriate population in Tokyo since 2005. Holding a Masters degree in Exercise Science (Strength & Conditioning), Sam is passionate about bridging the gap between rehabilitation and sports conditioning. Sam’s other interests include lower back dysfunction, knee and shoulder injuries, and screening and injury prevention in sport. Sam has also worked extensively as an ergonomic consultant, identifying and correcting workplace risk factors that may play a part in injury development. An accomplished athlete, Sam competed for over 20 years in Shinkyokushinkai, full contact karate. He represented Australia at 5 World Championships, culminating in a 4th place at the 2009 World C.
